LATAM PCI General Assembly 2025 – A firm step towards the future
On Tuesday, June 17th, the LATAM PCI General Partner Assembly was held with great success at FireExpo Las Vegas 2025. This key event featured two consecutive sessions that marked important milestones for the institutional strengthening of our Latin American network.
Statutory reform: more transparency and functionality
During the first extraordinary session, a vote was held on the bylaws reform, aimed at providing LATAM PCI with greater strength, clarity, and operational effectiveness as a regional organization. The reform was approved unanimously.
Regular meeting: strategic progress by region
In the second session, which was held regularly, the current status of the main projects promoted by LATAM PCI was presented:
1️⃣ Progress from the Presidency
A report was shared on the efforts and partnerships that strengthen our largest global project: the designation of October 8 as World Fire Safety Day. The active support of the following was highlighted: – IFSS Coalition (International Fire Safety Standards) – IFSA (International Fire Suppression Alliance)

2️⃣ Education Group – Virtual Library
Presented by Marcelo Lima of the Sprinkler Institute Brazil (ISB), this project seeks to create a single access point for educational content generated by our member organizations in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. The web platform has already been developed and is close to launch.

3️⃣ Certification Group – Competency Standards
This project, led by Cristóbal Mir (ANAPCI – Chile), aims to establish a regional certification system for fire protection specialists. The work of the leaders by specialty was recognized: – Suppression: Giorgio Silva (SNPCI – Peru) – Alarm and Detection: Marcelo Oronoz (AUPCI – Uruguay) – Passive Protection: Paloma Carralón (ANAPCI – Spain). The Competency Standards phase was successfully completed, with validation by the 15 member countries. The next step will be to advance in the development of the evaluation model.

4️⃣ Regulation Group – 2nd Regional Study
This group is led by Alfonso Panizo of the SNPCI of Peru.
The report focused on the impressive results of the second regulatory study in the region, which was led by Maxi Wutzke, VP of CEMERA, Argentina.
The launch of this study achieved more than 1,500 virtual attendees.
And the great discoveries of this successful project were highlighted.
It was announced that discussion panels will be held to advance the dissemination that this study requires.
A renewed push for LATAM PCI
This General Assembly represents a turning point for LATAM PCI. It strengthens us institutionally and aligns us strategically to continue consolidating fire safety throughout Latin America.
